Monika Architect

Working from H. No. 625 in Sector 40-A gives Monika Architect a very local, neighborhood vibe. It’s not the kind of place where you’ll find a glass elevator or a receptionist. It’s just a workspace where we get down to the business of planning and designing. We’ve got our computers set up and shelves full of old project files and reference books. Most days involve a lot of phone calls and looking over construction drawings. We focus on getting the details right for people in the Chandigarh area. The streets around here are familiar to us, and we like being part of this community. We don't try to sound like a big international firm because we aren't. We’re just a small office doing architectural work one project at a time. Sometimes we’re out at a site checking on the foundation, and other times we’re stuck inside figuring out a tricky roof line. It can be stressful when things don't go according to plan, but we just deal with it as it comes. We don't have any scripted speeches for clients. We just talk about what’s possible for their land and how we can make it work. It’s a very direct way of doing things, and it seems to work out fine for everyone involved. We just keep drawing and checking the math until the job is done right. It's a simple life but it keeps us busy enough.
