M S Ganesh Karyana Store is right here on Sahib Street in Sector 15. We are at number 70. It’s a typical neighborhood shop. We have shelves full of lentils, rice, soaps, and whatever else people need for their kitchens. It’s often a bit cramped inside because we try to keep a lot of stock. People come in every morning for their milk and bread. We know most of our customers by their first names. We’ve seen their kids grow up. Running a karyana store means long hours. We open early and stay open until late. There isn’t much time for breaks. We don’t have any fancy technology here, just a simple counter and some ledgers. Sometimes the delivery trucks block the street for a minute while we unload sacks of flour. It’s just how it is. We try to keep our prices fair because we live here too. Sector 15 is a tight community. If someone is short a few rupees, we usually just catch them next time. It’s built on trust. We aren’t a big supermarket chain with bright lights. We are just a local store on the corner. The wooden shelves have been here as long as I can remember. It smells like spices and tea most of the time. It’s a good life, being at the heart of the street. We don't plan on changing much about how we do things.
