Khurana Manujit Architect

Working out of house number 1367 in Sector 34-C is quite a different experience than being in one of those big commercial blocks. It’s a bit more peaceful here, which helps when you need to focus on a complicated design. Manujit has been here for a long time, and the space has slowly filled up with books, folders, and rolls of tracing paper. There is a specific spot on the desk where the light hits just right in the morning, which is usually the best time to get the initial sketches done. The neighborhood is mostly quiet, though you’ll hear the occasional street vendor passing by or the sound of cars in the driveway next door. It’s not a huge office, but it has enough room for a couple of visitors to sit down and talk through their ideas. Sometimes the cat wanders in and sleeps on the corner of a blueprint, which can be a bit of a nuisance, but we just work around it. There isn't a receptionist or a big lobby, just a doorbell and a small waiting area with a few old magazines. Most of the day is spent going back and forth between the computer and the hand-drawn notes. It’s a very personal way of working, and it keeps things grounded. When the weather is nice, the window stays open to let in a bit of a breeze from the garden outside. It's a simple, quiet routine that seems to work for everyone.
