About Kaur Gurleen Architect – Architect, Interior & Structural Design in Chandigarh
Kaur Gurleen Architect is run out of House No. 42 in Sector 16A. It is a peaceful part of town where the streets are wide and there is plenty of space. I set up the studio here because I wanted a place that felt like home while I worked. The room faces the garden so I can see the birds while I'm sketching out new designs. It’s much better than being in a dark office building downtown. Sector 16A is a familiar place for me. I've spent a lot of time getting to know the local rhythms. People go for their morning walks and I’m usually already at my desk with a cup of coffee. The house is easy to spot once you get onto the right street. I don't have a big neon sign out front, just a small nameplate by the gate. Inside it’s mostly shelves filled with folders and rolls of paper. It gets a bit messy when I’m in the middle of a big project but that’s just part of the process. I handle everything myself from this desk. Sometimes the phone rings too much but mostly it's just quiet work. If you walk past House 42 you might see the light on late at night. That’s usually just me finishing up some details on a drawing. Sector 16A has these tall trees that line the roads, and in the autumn, the leaves are everywhere. I spend a lot of time sweeping the walkway at the front gate.
