About Karamjeet Kaur Architect – Architect, Interior & Structural Design in Chandigarh
I have my office set up at H.No.5976 in the Modern Housing Complex over in Animajra. It is a bit of a trek for some people, but it is a nice area to work from. Being an architect here means I handle a lot of different tasks myself. One day I might be drawing up a new floor plan for a family, and the next I’m out checking if the foundation was poured correctly. The desk is always messy with blueprints and half-drunk cups of tea. I’ve worked on a lot of homes in this complex and the surrounding neighborhoods. People around here know me as the person to talk to if they need to submit plans to the local authorities. I don't use a lot of big words or try to act like I know everything. I just know what works for these types of houses. Sometimes the software crashes right when I’m finishing a drawing, which is annoying, but I just start again. It’s a lot of hours spent making sure the measurements are exact. If the numbers are wrong, the whole building is wrong. I try to keep things simple and clear for the contractors. It’s just me working away in Animajra, trying to help people get their homes built or fixed up without making things too complicated. I also spend a good chunk of time on the phone with suppliers, checking if they have the right materials in stock. It’s a lot of juggling, but that’s the reality of running a small practice.
