Up in Chandigarh at Sector-20 A, we have a pretty straightforward operation at house number 266. It’s a residential-feeling area, so it’s not as chaotic as the big commercial centers. We’ve been handling ceramics here for a while. The shop is filled with various sizes of tiles, from the small ones for borders to the big floor slabs. We spend a lot of time organizing the racks because things tend to get messy when you're pulling out heavy samples all day. It's a workout, honestly. We don't really do the big sales pitches. We just let the tiles sit there and let people decide what they like. Most folks who come in already have an idea of what they want, they just need to see the finish in person. The weather in Chandigarh is nice for part of the year, but when it’s hot, we just stay inside and keep the inventory updated. We check the stock levels on the computer and then double-check the actual boxes in the back because the two don't always agree. It's a simple way to spend a day. We know most of the local tilers who come by to pick up supplies. We usually have a bit of a chat about their current projects before they load up their trucks and head out. There’s something satisfying about seeing a big order finally leave for a new house.
