Haryana Irrigation Department

Our office for the Haryana Irrigation Department is at 2127 Sector 27 C in Chandigarh. The pin code is 160019. It’s a standard government building that has seen a lot of years. We spend most of our time looking at maps of canals and water systems across the state. It’s very technical work, but we aren't scientists or anything, just staff who know the area. Chandigarh is a well-planned city, so getting to Sector 27 C isn't too hard. Inside, it’s mostly just desks piled with folders and rolls of blueprints. We have old fans that creak a bit when they are on. People come in to ask about water rights or drainage issues in their fields. We try to give them the answers based on the records we have in our cabinets. It’s not a fast-paced environment. Everything has a process and it takes time to get things approved. We don't have any fancy mission statements on the walls. We just come in, check the water levels reported to us, and do the paperwork. It’s been this way for as long as I can remember. The building is a bit grey and the furniture is old, but it serves its purpose. We are just the people making sure the irrigation side of things stays organized for the government. There isn't much more to say about us than that. We just do the job each day and head home.
