Haryana Civil Secretariat

The Haryana Civil Secretariat is based right here on the Panjab University Campus in Chandigarh. Our specific spot is House Number A/133. It’s a bit unusual being tucked away in a university area instead of a big government building downtown, but it works for us. Most people who work here are used to the quiet atmosphere of the campus. We deal with a lot of files and administrative stuff every day. There are always people coming and going with papers that need signing. Chandigarh is a nice city to work in, especially with all the trees around the university. Our office at A/133 isn't very big, so things get a bit cramped when it's busy. We spend our mornings drinking tea and going through the mail that arrives. It’s a steady kind of life. There aren't many surprises in government work, mostly just following the rules and making sure things are documented properly. Sometimes the students walk past and wonder what we do in here. It’s just regular office work, really. We’ve been at this address for quite some time now. We don't have any big slogans or anything. We just show up, do the filing, and make sure the messages get to the right people. Being part of the secretariat means there's always something to do, even if it's just organizing the cabinets or answering the same questions on the phone. We stay until the work is done each day.
