If you head over to the Motor Market in Manimajra and go up to the first floor of Scf 504, you’ll find us. Guru Nanak Dev Motors has been in this spot for quite some time. The stairs are a bit steep and can be tiring if you’re carrying heavy parts, but we’re used to the climb. The whole market is full of the smell of diesel and the sound of wrenches hitting metal. Our shop is no different. It’s cluttered with engine components, old tires, and boxes of spare parts. There isn't much space to walk around once a few cars are being looked at. We usually have the radio playing in the background, though you can barely hear it over the noise of the street below. We don't have a computer system to track every little thing; we mostly use a big ledger and our own memories. Our hands are almost always black from working on motors, and no amount of soap ever seems to get them completely clean. It’s a tough environment, especially in the summer when the heat gets trapped under the roof. People come to us because they know we’ve seen just about every engine problem there is. We just tell it like it is and tell them what needs fixing. It’s a straightforward way to run a business and it works for us. We've been here long enough that we feel like part of the furniture.
