Guljinder Kaur Architect

I work as an architect out of my home office at House Number 5541/3 in the Modern Housing Complex in Mani Majra. It’s a busy residential area, and being right in the middle of a housing complex makes sense for the kind of work I do. Most of my projects are local houses and renovations, so I’m often walking around the neighborhood to look at sites. My office isn't anything special to look at—just a desk, a good lamp, and a lot of files piled up. I spend most of my time on the technical side of things, like making sure the drawings are accurate for the builders. I don’t have a big staff or a fancy reception area. If someone wants to talk about a project, they usually just call or stop by. Mani Majra has its own specific building styles, and I’ve spent years learning what works best here. I don’t use much promotional talk because I think the buildings should stand on their own. Some days are spent entirely at the computer, and other days I’m out in the sun at a construction site. It’s a one-person operation for the most part, though I hire help when a project gets too big. Working from the Modern Housing Complex keeps me close to the ground and helps me understand what people actually need in their homes. It’s a practical way to work and I plan to keep it that way.
