Fun Cinemas

Fun Cinemas here in Manimajra is a place where we’ve seen a lot of movies come and go. It’s a big building, and there’s always something that needs fixing or cleaning. The lobby is the main hub, and that’s where you’ll find most of us working the ticket counters or the popcorn stands. The smell of popcorn is basically stuck in our clothes at this point. We spend a lot of time sweeping up spilled kernels and empty soda cups after a show lets out. The theaters themselves are large, and it’s a rush to get them ready for the next group of people in those few minutes between screenings. We deal with all sorts of folks, from noisy teenagers to families with crying babies. It’s never really boring. Sometimes the projectors have a hiccup, and we have to scramble to get things back on track. The lights in the hallway are a bit dim, which I guess is what people expect at a cinema. We have some regulars from around Manimajra who come every Friday no matter what is playing. It’s a lot of walking back and forth on those carpeted floors. We don't have anything too fancy, just the screens, the seats, and the snacks. It’s a simple operation, really. We just show the movies and try to keep the place from getting too messy, which is harder than it sounds.
