Dots Architects

Dots Architects is located at 117-118 in Mohali. It’s a two-unit setup where we do all our design work. Mohali is growing fast, so there is always a lot of construction noise in the distance. We’ve been here since before some of these new blocks were even built. The office is a bit of a mix of old school and new school. We still have some hand-drawing tools, but mostly it’s all on the screens now. It’s a small group of us working together. We don't have a receptionist or anything like that. If the phone rings, one of the architects just picks it up. We prefer it that way because it keeps things direct. Usually, the day starts with a lot of coffee and a look at whatever project is on the desk. It might be a house or a small office building. We spend a lot of time arguing about where the sunlight is going to hit certain rooms. It sounds small, but it matters when you’re actually living there. We don’t do big presentations with lots of buzzwords. We just show the sketches and explain why the kitchen is where it is. It’s a practical way of working. People seem to appreciate that we don’t overcomplicate things. The office stays open until the work is finished, which sometimes means late nights, but that's just the nature of the job for us.
