Chawla Tyres has been sitting here in Sector 27 D for quite some time. The first thing you notice when you come by is the very strong smell of new rubber. We have stacks of tires piled up almost to the ceiling, and sometimes it feels like they might all fall over if someone sneezes too hard. The shop is right in Sector 27, so we see a lot of people who have caught a nail in their tire or just need the air pressure checked. We use these heavy iron rods to pry the rubber off the rims, and it is hard on the back after a few hours. The floor is always dusty from the road and the bits of gravel that fall out of the treads. We have a small machine for balancing that makes a loud whirring noise all afternoon. It is not the kind of place where you want to wear nice clothes because you will definitely get black marks on them. During the rainy season, we get really busy because everyone realizes their tires are bald when they start sliding on the road. We just keep a simple logbook for our sales and try to keep the sidewalk clear so neighbors do not complain. It is just a basic tire shop where we do the work ourselves and try to keep the tools from getting lost in the piles.
