About Amar Rajinder Singh Architect – Architect, Interior & Structural Design in Chandigarh
My office is tucked away in Sector-15-B, specifically at H.No.1186. It’s a quiet part of the neighborhood, which is nice when you need to focus on a complicated floor plan. I’ve spent a lot of years here, surrounded by stacks of old drawings and tracing paper. Most people who come by are just neighbors or folks who heard about me from someone else in the area. I don’t go for anything too flashy. I just have my drawing board and some computers for the newer stuff. Designing a house is mostly about listening to what someone needs and then trying to fit it onto their plot of land without making a mess of it. I spend a lot of time checking the local building codes because they change more often than you’d think. Sometimes I’m out at a site getting my shoes dusty, and other times I’m just here drinking coffee and sketching out an idea. Sector-15-B is a good place to work from. It's central enough that I can get anywhere pretty fast. I handle the whole process, from the first rough sketch to the final details. It’s a one-man show mostly, though I have people I call when I need help with the heavy lifting. I don’t see the point in having a big corporate office when this room does the job just fine. It feels more personal this way and keeps me connected to the projects.
