Jan Jan Microfinance Foundation

We are based out of Patehra Village in Imliya Kala, which is not far from Chunar and Varanasi. Things started here because we saw how hard it is for folks in the village to get a bit of cash when they need to start a small shop or fix something on the farm. Jan Jan Microfinance Foundation is just a group of us working out of this spot. It is quiet here, mostly just fields and local families. We spend a lot of our time talking to people about small loans and how to handle money without getting into big trouble. The roads around here can be a bit rough, but people make it to our office anyway. We don't have a big fancy building or anything like that. It's just a regular place in the village. Sometimes the power goes out, so we keep everything on paper as much as we can. It’s been a few years now. We know most of the people who come in by their first names. It is not like a big city bank where you are just a number. Here, we actually sit down and listen. The address is 231304 if you are trying to find us on a map. Most of the time, someone is around to answer questions. It’s a slow pace of life in Imliya Kala, and we like it that way. We just keep doing what we do every day without making too much of a fuss.
