We are located at 40 Nanda Ghosh 2nd Lane in the Fatakgora area of Chandannagore. This is a place with a lot of history, being an old French colony, and you can see it in the narrow lanes and the style of the buildings around us. Our office for the engineering company is right in the middle of it. It’s a busy, cramped space filled with mechanical parts, old tools, and stacks of papers. We’ve been here for a long time. The building is old and sometimes the roof leaks a little when it rains really hard, but it’s our home. We spend our days working on ropeway designs and engineering problems. It’s noisy work sometimes. There is always the sound of someone hammering something or a machine being tested in the back. We aren't a modern office with glass partitions. We have old metal cupboards and wooden desks that have been stained by years of coffee cups. We know all the neighbors in the lane. Sometimes we even have to move our equipment just so a rickshaw can get past. It’s a very traditional way of working. We don't use a lot of fancy words to describe what we do. We just build things and fix things. The heat in Hooghly can be tough in the summer, but we just keep the fans going and stay focused on the engineering tasks. It’s a local business through and through.
