Chatterjee Ambulance Service

Chatterjee Ambulance Service is based out of Singti village, near the Jangipara police station. Most people around here know where we are. We started this because getting to a big hospital from this part of Guti or Singti isn't always easy, especially if it is late at night. The roads can be narrow and sometimes traffic gets stuck, but we know the shortcuts around here. My cousin and I take turns with the driving and the phone. It is a lot of waiting around until the phone rings, then everything happens fast. We keep the vehicle clean and check the engine every week. It's not a fancy office job. We are mostly on the road or sitting by the gate waiting. People call us for emergencies or just to take an elderly person for a checkup in the city. We see a lot of families going through tough times, so we try to just do our job quietly and get them where they need to go. Sometimes the weather is bad or the rain makes the paths muddy, but we manage. Being in a small place like this means everyone knows your name. We just focus on keeping the ambulance ready for the next call. It's how we make a living and help the neighbors at the same time. There's no big team, just a few of us here in the village.
