Champhai Organic Producer Company Limited

We are located in Tlangsam right near the Presbyterian English Medium School. If you know where that school is then you have probably walked past our place many times. We are a group of people here in Champhai who decided to stick to organic ways of growing our crops. It is definitely a lot more work for us because we do not use any of those quick chemicals but we just prefer it this way. The soil here in Tlangsam seems to respond really well to natural compost. We spend a lot of time making our own fertilizer and checking the plants for bugs by hand. It is a slow and steady process. We are not some big factory or a fancy business. We are just local folks working on our own land. The company helps us organize how we send our vegetables and fruit out to the local markets. Often you will see us out working in the fields while the kids are at the school nearby. We do not have a polished showroom or anything like that. It is mostly just the barn and the fields where all the real work happens. We have to be very careful with the mountain weather because it can change so fast. We focus on crops that grow naturally in this climate. Sometimes the yield is not as big as the other farms but we are okay with that. It is just our way of working.
