Ma Nanda Devi Foundation

Ma Nanda Devi Foundation is based up in the Chamoli District, specifically in a place called Siri near the Dungri post office. We operate out of Bhawani Dutt’s place in Gopeshwar. It’s a mountainous area, so things move a bit slower here than they do in the big cities. We don't mind that, though. The air is fresh and we know everyone in the village. Working in Gopeshwar means dealing with the hills every day, which keeps us active. Our office isn't much more than a room where we keep our files and meet up to talk about what needs to be done. We don't have a fancy website or a big marketing team. It’s just us, working in the community where we live. Sometimes the mail takes a while to get up here to the Siri PO, but we manage. We spend our days talking to neighbors and trying to be useful where we can. It’s a quiet life, mostly focused on the local needs of our district. We don't put on airs or pretend to be some huge organization. We’re just local people helping out other local people. Bhawani Dutt has been kind enough to give us a space to work from, and it’s become our little home base. If you ever find yourself up in this part of Chamoli, you’ll see it’s a simple, honest way of living. We just keep at it and handle whatever comes our way. It's a humble life, but it's what we know and we're okay with that.
