Down in Village-Sartoli, near Po-Bagna in Chamoli, you will find us working at House Number 57. That's Nain Singh Bist’s place, and it’s where Himalayan Nutrients & Herbs Private Limited does its business. Chamoli is a rugged place, and the herbs we work with grow in some tough spots. We spend our time going up the slopes and gathering what we need, then bringing it back to the village to process it. It's a very local operation. We don't have a factory or anything like that, just some clean rooms and drying areas. Most of us have lived in Sartoli our whole lives, so we know where the best plants are. It’s hard work because the terrain is steep and the weather can change in a minute. We focus on the nutrients and the herbs that are natural to this part of the Himalayas. We don't use any heavy machinery, just our hands and some basic tools. People know us in Chamoli as the ones who are always out in the mountains. We try to keep things honest and simple. No one here wears a suit; we just wear what’s practical for the hills. The herbs get sorted and dried carefully because that’s what matters most. It’s a quiet life, but we stay busy enough keeping up with the seasons and the mountain growth. Chamoli has some of the cleanest air, which is good for the plants we collect. We often have to walk for hours to reach them.
