My name is Yogesh, and I run this slate business near the Gehra Bus Stop. It’s right by the Post Office in Gehra, which is in a pretty quiet district. We deal with slate stone, which is a common thing in this region but requires a lot of hard work to get right. We spend our days cutting, sorting, and stacking the stones. It’s heavy work, and your hands get very rough after a few years of doing this. The yard is usually full of different sizes of slate pieces. Some are for roofs, others for floors or walls. We don't have a big office or anything like that. Just a small shack where we keep the tools and take a break for tea. The bus stop being so close means there is always someone walking by, so we get a bit of company throughout the day. I’ve lived in this area all my life, so I know most of the people who come to buy stone from us. We don't have a fancy catalog. You just have to come and look at the piles to see what you like. Every piece of stone is a bit different, which is what makes it look good once it’s put on a house. We just do the work, keep the yard tidy, and try to make sure we have enough stock for the next person who needs a roof. It is a simple life.
