Rising Star Public School Chowari

Rising Star Public School Chowari is located in Ward No 6 of the Chowari area in Chamba. Being up in the hills, the school has a very different atmosphere than what you would find down in the plains. The air is usually cool and the view of the surrounding hills is quite nice, though we don't always pay attention to it when we are busy. The school building is built on a bit of a slope, so there are some steps to climb to get to the different classrooms. It’s a local place where most of the children come from the nearby villages and houses in Ward 6. Our classrooms are simple with wooden furniture and small windows to keep the cold out during the winter months. We have a small playground, but it isn't perfectly flat because of the terrain. The teachers are mostly local people who have lived in Chamba all their lives. Sometimes when it snows or rains heavily, we have to adjust our timings because the paths get slippery for the kids. We don't have any high-end facilities or fancy computers, just the basic stuff needed for a primary and secondary education. It’s a modest school where everyone knows each other’s business, and we just focus on getting through the school year without too much trouble. We take things one day at a time up here in the mountains.
