Our Lic Of India branch is located in the village of Sihunta, which is in the Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh. Being up here in the hills means things move at a different pace compared to the big cities. The air is cooler, and the views are nice, but the work is still the same. We operate out of a small building in the village, near the post office. Most of the people who come to see us are farmers or local shopkeepers from the surrounding areas. They often walk quite a distance or take the local bus to get here. Because of that, we try to be as helpful as possible when they arrive. Our office is quite basic, with wooden desks and a lot of paper registers. We spend our time writing down policy details and checking the ledgers. We don't have fancy computers or high-speed internet, so a lot of things are done by hand. It’s a very quiet place, and sometimes the only sound is the wind or someone calling out in the street. We know almost everyone who walks through the door by name. It is a small community, and we are just here to help them manage their insurance stuff. It is a simple life and a simple way of working, but it works for us and the people in Sihunta. We just keep the records safe and do our jobs every day as the seasons change.
