Jai Jagdambey Mandir Foundation

We are situated in the Khajjiar area, right in the village and post office there. Most people know Khajjiar for the big meadows and the tourists who come to visit, but for us, it is just the place where we live. Our foundation is deeply connected to the local people and the daily life of this area. We spend a lot of time near the temple, as it is a natural place for everyone to meet up. We don't do anything very complicated or grand. Our main focus is just helping maintain the local community and looking after the residents who stay here all year round. The tourists come and go, but the locals are always here. Sometimes we help someone with their medical expenses or help clear the paths after a heavy snowfall. We don't have much paperwork to deal with. We prefer to talk to people directly. The air up here is usually quite cold, so we often sit around a small fire and talk about what needs to be done in the village. There are only a few of us involved. We aren't looking to get big or famous. We just want Khajjiar to remain a good and safe place for our children to grow up in. We see the changes that come with more visitors, and we try to make sure the local families aren't forgotten. We just show up and do our part. Most of us have known each other since we were kids, so there is a lot of trust.
