Being up here in Dist. Kangra makes for a different kind of workday than what you’d find in a big city. We are located at Sansarpur Terrace, specifically on Plot No. 113/14. It is an industrial area, so it’s mostly just other sheds and units around us. Himalayan Food Processors Pvt. Ltd. is what we call ourselves, and the work involves exactly what the name suggests. It gets cold here in the winters, and sometimes the weather makes transport a bit of a headache, but we manage. We aren't a massive operation with hundreds of layers of bosses. Usually, if something needs to be decided, we just talk it over in the small office area and get it sorted. The machines can be loud, but you get used to the hum after a while. Most of the people working here live nearby. We know each other's families and what's going on in the village. It feels more like a community than a cold factory. We process a lot of different things depending on what's in season. Some days are packed from morning until late at night, and other days are a bit quieter when we are waiting on a shipment. We don't have a flashy website or anyone doing social media for us. We just focus on the food processing part and hope the quality speaks for itself. It’s honest work. We’ve been at this plot for a while now and don't plan on moving. It suits us just fine.
