Edathandan Laser Color Lab

We are right at the South Junction in Chalakudy. It’s a very busy spot in the Trichur district, and there is always a lot of traffic passing by our front door. The lab is usually hummimg with the sound of the laser color machines and the air conditioning trying to keep everything cool. People come in all day for different things, like passport photos or getting their old family pictures printed out. It’s a lot of standing on our feet and making sure the colors look right on the screen before we hit print. The floor is usually covered with scraps of paper or empty envelopes by the end of a long shift. We have been here for a long time, and we have seen the technology change from old film to the digital stuff we use now. It’s a bit of a social hub too, as people wait for their photos and chat about what’s happening in town. We don't have a lot of time for sitting down, especially during the wedding season when everyone wants their albums finished at the same time. The smell of the chemicals from the old days is gone, replaced by the smell of hot electronics. We just keep the machines running and try to stay on top of the orders as they come in. It’s a busy, noisy, but satisfying way to spend our days here at the junction.
