Blue Mountain Granites

Up here in Thrissur District, specifically near Vellikulangara Post, is where we run Blue Mountain Granites. It is a beautiful area, but the work we do is quite heavy and tough. We work with granite stones that we get from around here. It involves a lot of cutting and moving very heavy slabs. We aren't a big corporate entity with hundreds of workers. It is just a small group of us who know how to handle stone properly. We spend our days out in the yard or in the cutting shed. The water for the saws runs all day to keep the blades cool. It makes a lot of noise, but we are used to it by now. People come to us when they need stone for their floors or for outside steps. We don't have a big marketing budget. Most of our work comes from people telling their neighbors about us. We’ve been in Vellikulangara for a long time. The rains here can be very heavy, which sometimes stops work for a few days, but we catch up quickly. We try to be honest about what we have in stock. If a piece of granite has a flaw, we tell the person looking at it. It’s better that way. We aren't trying to be the biggest, just want to do our job and keep the business going as it has for years. We just take it day by day and do the best we can for the people.
