If you head out to Chakan in Taluka Khed, you’ll find us at Wadekar Farms. It’s not a corporate office; it’s mostly dirt, tractors, and whatever crops we’ve got growing at the time. Our days start way before the sun is actually up because that’s when the work needs doing. There’s always something that needs fixing, whether it’s a leaky pipe or a fence that the wind knocked over. We grow what we can and try to keep the soil healthy. It’s a lot of physical labor, and my hands are usually stained with earth or grease from the equipment. We don't have a marketing department; our work is just what you see in the fields. Some years are better than others depending on the rain, but that’s just farming. We’ve lived in this area for generations, so we know the land pretty well. People stop by to chat or ask about the harvest, and we usually have time for a quick word before getting back to it. It’s a quiet life compared to the city, though the work never really stops. Even when the crops are in, there’s planning for the next season. We don't use big words to describe what we do. We just plant, we grow, and we hope for the best. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy from dawn till dusk.
