Nath Rice Mill

Nath Rice Mill is right here in Kadus. We are in the Khed taluka area. The mill has been a part of this landscape for a good while now. Every morning the sound of the machines starts up and it doesn’t stop until late. People bring their grain from all over the nearby fields. It’s hard work and the dust gets everywhere, no matter how much we sweep. We don’t have a big corporate office or anything like that. Just a small desk in the corner where we keep the books. The weather really dictates how busy we are. When the harvest is in, it’s non-stop. We drink a lot of tea to keep going during those weeks. My family has been involved with this for years. We know the farmers around Kadus pretty well. They trust us to handle their rice right. It’s a loud place when the mill is running but we’re used to it. Sometimes the equipment breaks down and we have to fix it ourselves on the spot. That’s just part of the job. We don’t talk much while we work because of the noise. We just get on with it. It's a plain building, nothing special to look at from the outside. But inside, we’re always moving. That’s how life is at Nath Rice Mill in Khed.
