Mamta Super Market

Our shop, Mamta Super Market, sits right on the 132 Feet Ring Road in Chakan. It’s a very busy area with a lot of trucks and cars passing by all the time. The dust from the road is a constant battle for us. We sell all sorts of household goods, from big bags of rice to small packets of tea. We also have a section for snacks and chocolates which the kids like. The shelves are made of simple metal and wood. Sometimes we run out of space and have to stack things on the floor. It’s not the most organized place, but we know where everything is kept. I usually sit near the entrance to keep an eye on things. We don't have air conditioning, so the big doors stay open to let some air in. People stop by on their way home from work because the ring road is a main route. We see a lot of different people every day, not just locals. The billing is done on a small desk near the front. We keep a stock of batteries, light bulbs, and other small things near the register. It’s a long day, starting early and closing after dark. We don't have a website or anything like that. We just focus on the people who walk through the door. The ring road keeps the business moving, even if it is noisy.
