Chakan is a loud place with all the trucks going to the factories. Our clinic is right on the Main Road, inside Sagar Residency. It’s a busy spot, especially in the evenings. Being near Shaha Hospital helps people find us, because everyone knows where that is. We do dental work, so you can imagine the sounds of the machines and the smell of the stuff we use. It’s not everyone’s favorite place to visit, but we try to make it comfortable. We have some plastic chairs in the waiting area and a little TV that usually plays the news. The floor gets dusty because of all the construction nearby, so we are always sweeping. It’s just me and a couple of assistants. We’ve been in this building for a while now. Some days are long, especially when we have a lot of appointments back to back. But we like the routine of it all. Chakan feels like it never sleeps, and being on the main road, we see it all. We have a small desk where we keep the records in big files. It’s all very simple. We don't have any fancy decorations, just some posters about teeth on the walls. It’s a practical place for the people living around here. Most of our patients are folks who work in the nearby plants or families from the apartments. It gets a bit hot in the afternoons, so we keep the door closed.
