Simran Tools International

Down here at 664 Military Road in Anand Parbat, things stay pretty dusty most of the time. Simran Tools International has been operating out of this space for some time, and it’s mostly just a lot of metal and grease. If you come by, you’ll see we have tools stacked up in every corner and the sound of machines never really stops until late in the evening. Anand Parbat is a tough area for driving, so we’re used to the narrow streets and the constant honking from the trucks trying to get through. Our workspace isn't something you'd see in a magazine. It’s got oil stains on the floor and the walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we’re usually too busy for that. We focus on getting the tools ready and making sure the counts are right. Most of us have been working together for years, so we don't need to say much to get the job done. We just know the routine by now. It gets really loud when the nearby shops are all working at once, and we often have to close the front shutters a bit to keep the dust out. Our tea breaks are the highlight of the day when we can sit for a minute. It’s honest work, and it keeps us busy from Monday to Saturday. You usually have to shout over the noise just to get someone’s attention.
