Shyamji Paint & Hardware is right in the middle of the Subzi Bazar in Karol Bagh, at 1771214. If you’ve ever been to the market, you know how loud and crowded it can get. We’ve been here for years, squeezed in among the vegetable sellers and the other small shops. Our place is packed with everything from bright enamel paints to heavy-duty door locks. It’s a bit of a squeeze to get through the aisles sometimes because we try to stock as much as possible. Since we're in the market, we see all kinds of people every day. Some are just looking for a specific bulb, while others need enough paint for a whole building. We don't have a fancy display or a computer system that tracks everything perfectly. We mostly rely on memory and a notebook we keep behind the counter. The shop is old, and the walls have layers of different paint samples we’ve tested over the years. It gives the place a bit of character, I think. We spend our days climbing up and down the rolling ladder to reach the high shelves. It’s tiring, but we’re used to it. We aren't some big brand with a shiny logo; we're just a family-run hardware store in the heart of the bazar. When the market gets busy, it can be hard to hear yourself think, but we wouldn't want to be anywhere else. We’re open as long as the market is.
