Shri Govind Store

Our store is at Nehru Vihar, E Block 178. It’s a typical general store where we sell everything from matches to big bags of flour. Shri Govind Store has been a part of this block for many years now. The walls are lined with shelves that go all the way to the ceiling, so we have to use a small ladder to reach the stuff on top. It’s a bit of a squeeze when more than two people are inside at the same time. We try to keep the stock fresh, but sometimes things sit for a bit if they aren't popular. The morning is usually the busiest time when everyone is getting things for breakfast. In the afternoons, it gets quiet and I usually sit on a stool by the door to catch a bit of a breeze. We have a small refrigerator for milk and curd, which is always popular during the summer months. There’s no big sign outside, just the name painted on the wall above the shutter. We don't do any delivery or anything, people just walk over from their houses in E Block. It’s a simple way to earn a living, and we enjoy being part of the neighborhood. The accounts are kept in a thick ledger, and we use an old calculator that has seen better days. It is just a basic shop for basic needs.
