If you walk down Hari Singh Nalwa Street in Karol Bagh, you’ll find us at 66/2247 on Laxmi Rani Dawer Marg. This whole neighborhood is always crowded and noisy, and there is a constant smell of old metal and engine oil drifting through the air. Shanta Auto Spares is crammed from floor to ceiling with all sorts of parts. We keep stuff for old car models that are hard to find elsewhere along with parts for the newer vehicles on the road. By ten in the morning, my hands are usually covered in grease because someone needed to see if a part was the right fit. There isn't a fancy showroom here with bright lights. It is mostly just stacks of cardboard boxes and loose bits of machinery sitting on the wooden counters. Finding a specific bolt or filter can take a minute since things are tucked away in every corner. Karol Bagh is a hectic place to work due to the heat and the constant shouting of the markets, but it is the center of the world for auto spares. Years of being here have taught us which suppliers to trust and which ones to skip. Frustrated customers come in with broken cars, and we just try to get them the right piece so they can get moving again. It is honest work that keeps us busy from dawn till dusk. Sometimes the rain makes the street muddy, but we stay open regardless.
