Shakti Paint Hardware

The shop is tucked away at 1057, Tiraha Behram Khan in Darya Ganj. If you know the area, you know how narrow and winding the streets can get around here. It’s an old part of the city, and the building feels like it has been here forever. We sell paint and hardware, so the air is thick with that distinct workshop smell. The space is a bit dark because the sunlight doesn't reach down into these streets very well. We have old wooden shelves that go all the way to the ceiling, filled with jars of screws, hinges, and various paint shades. People come in from the alleyways looking for bits and pieces to repair their old houses. Darya Ganj is a place where everyone is always moving, and our shop is just one small part of that maze. We spend a lot of time measuring out things or weighing hardware on the old scales. It’s a bit of a struggle to get big deliveries in because the trucks can’t always make it through the lanes. We often have to carry things by hand from the main road. The walls are stained with years of use, and the ceiling is quite high. It’s a simple operation where we know our inventory by heart. We don’t bother with much decoration; the products themselves are the only things on display. It is just a regular shop in a historic neighborhood, doing what it has always done for the local people.
