Shades Of India

Shades Of India is located at 28/51 in West Patel Nagar. It’s a residential-turned-commercial kind of area, so it feels a bit more relaxed than the big markets. Our building is easy to spot if you’re looking for the number. Inside, we have our work area where we handle different fabrics and designs. It’s often a bit cluttered with samples and rolls of cloth. We don’t have a fancy interior designer for our own space; we just put things where they fit. There’s usually a sewing machine hum or the sound of scissors cutting through material. The light comes in well through the front windows in the morning. We are a small team and everyone does a bit of everything. Sometimes we are packing boxes, and other times we are sketching out new ideas. West Patel Nagar is a nice place to work because it’s got some good food stalls nearby for lunch. We’ve been here long enough that we don’t need a map to find our way through the back lanes. It’s a straightforward business. We make things, we talk to people, and we try to keep the orders moving out the door. It’s not a corporate office with glass walls, just a real workspace with people who know what they’re doing. We like the vibe here and the neighbors are friendly enough. We just do our own thing.
