Satpal General Store

If you walk down toward the Shiv Mandir in Nehru Vihar, you’ll find us at 89/6. Satpal General Store has been a part of this street for quite a while. Most of our day is spent at the counter, watching people head to the temple or just go about their business. It’s a small place, honestly. We have boxes stacked up near the back and the shelves are always full of things people might need in a hurry. Sometimes we forget to order something and then we have to tell a neighbor to come back later. It happens. We don't have a big marketing plan or anything like that. People just know we are here. The morning rush is the loudest part of the day because of the temple bells and everyone trying to get milk before work. We try to keep things moving. My hands are usually busy reorganizing the biscuit packs or checking the dates on the snacks. It’s not a glamorous job, but it keeps us busy and we know almost everyone in Nehru Vihar by name now. The floor needs a sweep pretty often because of the foot traffic. We just take things one day at a time here. It’s just us and the shop, nothing more to it. We keep the doors open until late at night usually, just in case someone forgot something for their dinner.
