If you know Karol Bagh, you know how Naiwala is. It’s packed with shops and people looking for spare parts every single day. Sahni Auto Parts is located at 1559/29-30, and we’ve been squeezed into this space for quite some time now. It’s a narrow area, but we make it work with stacks of boxes reaching up to the ceiling. We deal with all sorts of auto parts. It gets pretty hot in the summer months, and the small fans just move the warm air around, but we keep going because the work doesn't stop. Customers come in with greasy hands or old parts they need a match for, and we spend our time looking through the inventory. We don't have a fancy showroom or anything like that. It’s just us, the counters, and a lot of metal components. The morning starts with opening the heavy shutters, which always seem to stick a little bit in the runners. Then we check what came in the day before and what needs to go out to the customers. There’s a lot of shouting back and forth across the street, mostly just people saying hello or asking about a late delivery. We drink a lot of chai to keep our energy up during the long afternoons. Sometimes the lights flicker when the power gets patchy, but we have a backup for that so we aren't in the dark. It’s a basic operation. We just know where the parts are kept and how much they cost.
