Anand Parbat Indl. Area is not the kind of place you go for a quiet stroll. It’s loud, it’s dusty, and it’s full of people making things. Rk Printers is right in the mix at Z-2, Street No.4. Our shop is dominated by the sound of the printing presses. When they are running, you have to raise your voice just to be heard over the hum and the clatter. There’s a constant smell of ink and cleaning solvents in the air, which you just get used to after a couple of days. We have stacks of paper everywhere—different weights, different colors, all waiting to go through the rollers. Our hands are usually stained with a bit of black or blue ink by the end of the shift. The lighting is harsh because we need to check the alignment and the colors properly. Street No.4 is always busy with small tempos and motorcycles zig-zagging around. We don't have a fancy storefront; the entrance is usually open so we can get some air in while the machines are working. It’s a gritty environment, but there’s a lot of pride in seeing a job come out right. We’ve been in Anand Parbat for a long time and know most of the other printers on this block. It’s a community of makers, and we’re just one part of it, doing our thing every day until the power goes out or the job is finished. The metal door at the entrance has been there since we started.
