We are located at 7/2520 Beadonpura, right across from Standard Buni in the middle of Karol Bagh. If you know the area, you know how loud and crowded it gets. Rajesh Gems & Jewels Pvt. Ltd. is our little corner in all that noise. We’ve got the heavy shutters that we pull up every morning. Inside, it’s a bit quieter because of the thick glass. We spend most of our time looking through loops at small stones or weighing out gold pieces on the scale. It’s a lot of sitting and being careful. People come in with their old rings to get them resized or they want something new for a daughter’s engagement. We don't have a big fancy showroom like the malls. It’s more personal. You sit on the stool, we bring out the trays. There’s always a bit of dust on the ledges because Karol Bagh is like that. We try to keep things tidy but it’s a working shop. Sometimes we’re just fixing a broken clasp or cleaning up a necklace that’s gone dull. My father worked here before me and I expect I’ll be here for a long time too. We know the neighbors, we know the tea boy, and we know our metals. It’s just a steady life of measuring and polishing. Nothing more to it than that.
