About Pritam Store – Food & Beverages in Central Delhi
Pritam Store is sitting right in the middle of the Subji Mandi at Anand Parbat, house number 65. If you know the vegetable market, you know how loud it gets every single morning. We are surrounded by crates of tomatoes and potatoes and shouting sellers all day. Our shop is just a small space where we keep all our inventory piled up. People come to us for their daily needs. It’s been here for years and years. My father ran it before I took over, and now I’m here most days from dawn. It’s a bit cramped inside because we try to stock every little thing people ask for. The shelves go all the way to the ceiling and sometimes things get tucked away in the back where it's hard to see. You have to step over a few boxes just to get to the front counter. The floor is old stone and a bit uneven. We open up quite early, usually when the first vegetable trucks are unloading their goods. It’s a lot of work keeping track of what’s sold and what we need to order. We don't use any fancy computers, just a worn-out notebook and a pen for the most part. Customers are mostly locals who live in the nearby lanes or other shopkeepers in the mandi. Sometimes we sit outside on a small wooden stool when it's quiet. The heat in the afternoon can be tough, but that’s the market life. We aren't trying to be a big supermarket. Just a store.
