Pehla Akshar Foundation

Our office for the Pehla Akshar Foundation is over in the Kalkaji Extension area, specifically in Surya Extension at Pkt A-11, Flat 2-D. It is a South Delhi spot that gets pretty busy during the middle of the day. We have been set up here for some time now, focusing on basic learning and those early steps for kids. The name Pehla Akshar basically means the first letter, and that is the level where we often do our work. It is not a big corporate building with a lobby, just a regular residential flat where we have got our supplies and a few plastic chairs for when people come to visit us. Being in Pkt A-11 makes it fairly easy for the locals to drop by when they have a question. We do not have any fancy receptionists or expensive coffee machines in the corner. Usually, one of us is just sitting there at a wooden table with a laptop or some old workbooks. The neighborhood is actually quite nice, though finding a parking spot can be a real headache sometimes, which is typical for New Delhi. We try to keep everything very low-key. If you happen to come by, you will probably see some cardboard boxes of materials waiting to be sorted on the floor. It is a practical space and we do not spend any money on fancy decorations. We would rather spend that on things the kids actually need for their studies. Most neighbors know us.
