If you ever find yourself walking down Hari Singh Nalwa Street in Karol Bagh, you’ll probably see our shop, Manish Auto Spares. We are tucked in at 1482/25. It’s a narrow street, always packed with rickshaws and people looking for some specific nut or bolt. I spend most of my day behind the counter, looking through catalogs or climbing up the ladder to grab a box from the top shelf. We keep a lot of stuff in stock because people around here need their cars fixed fast. There is always dust on the boxes, no matter how much we wipe them down. It's just the way it is in this part of town. Sometimes a mechanic comes in looking for a part for an old model that isn't even made anymore, and we have to dig through the back room to see if we have it. We drink a lot of chai throughout the day. The shop isn't big, but every inch of the walls is covered with shelves. We’ve been at this address for a long time now. You get to know the regulars. We talk about the weather or the traffic while I look up a price. It’s loud outside with the horns and the shouting, but inside it’s just us and the spare parts. We don't do anything fancy. We just sell the parts people need to keep their vehicles moving. It’s a simple living for us here.
