You can find us on the first floor of 78 Bentinck Street. It’s an old building, and the staircase is narrow, so you have to be careful coming up. The street outside is always humming with people and yellow taxis honking. We’ve been based here for many years now. Our office is pretty small and usually feels a bit crowded because of all the chemical samples and ledgers we have lying around. We deal with industrial chemicals, so it’s a lot of technical stuff and safety data sheets. It’s not the kind of job where you wear a suit. Most days I’m just in a plain shirt and trousers. We spend a lot of time talking to factory managers and suppliers. Sometimes the fan in the office doesn't do much against the Kolkata heat, but we manage with some cold water and a bit of patience. We have a small window that looks out onto the street, but it’s usually too noisy to keep it open for long. We aren't some big corporation with hundreds of employees. It’s just a handful of us making sure orders are processed correctly and deliveries are on time. We’ve known some of our customers for decades. It’s a straightforward way of life. We come in, do the work, and head home when the sun starts to go down. No bells or whistles, just the chemical business as we know it.
