Kohli Intl. Trading Co. operates out of 8-A/37 in the W.E.A. section of Karol Bagh. This neighborhood is a mix of residential buildings and small businesses, so it’s always got a lively feel. Our office is on a street that gets pretty packed with parked cars and delivery vans. Trading involves a lot of coordination, so our desks are usually covered in sticky notes and printouts. It’s not a very big space, but we’ve made it work for us over the years. We have an old air conditioner that makes a bit of a rattling sound, but it keeps us cool enough during the Delhi summers. Most of the people working here have been around for a long time. We know the local chai wallah and the other shopkeepers on the block. The work is mostly about managing shipments and talking to suppliers. Sometimes things get delayed at the port or with the transport, and that’s when the phones start ringing non-stop. We don't have any flashy brochures or a sleek reception desk. If you come by, you’ll likely find us buried under some paperwork or arguing over a shipping manifest. It’s just the way a small trading firm runs. We keep our heads down and try to stay on top of the orders. It’s a busy life in Karol Bagh, and we wouldn’t really know what to do with ourselves in a quiet office.
