Jewel Makers

Jewel Makers is tucked away in the General Market at Paharganj. Our address is T-100. If you’ve ever been to Paharganj, you know it’s a maze of narrow streets and tiny shops. We are right in the thick of it. The workshop is small and stays quite hot because of the tools we use. There’s a constant sound of metal hitting metal and the hum of the polishing machines. We have been in this same spot for years. The walls are a bit stained from the smoke and the dust, but that’s normal for a place like this. We sit on low stools most of the day, focusing on the small details. It’s hard on the eyes, so we have bright bulbs hanging over every station. We handle a lot of different stones and metals. Everything is kept in small tins or drawers. It might look like a mess to someone else, but we know exactly where everything is. The market outside is full of tourists and locals, but we mostly stay inside working. Sometimes we have to run out to grab a spare part or some chemicals from another vendor nearby. It’s a busy life. We don't have a receptionist or anyone like that. If you come in, you’ll see us with our magnifying glasses on. We just keep our heads down and finish the pieces as they come in.
