India Trade Promotion Organisation(Itpo)

Working at the India Trade Promotion Organisation, or ITPO as everyone calls it, means being at Pragati Bhawan in Pragati Maidan. It is a massive place. If you’ve ever been here for an exhibition, you know how much walking is involved. I’ve been working in these offices for years. Pragati Maidan is basically its own little world. We spend our days dealing with a lot of paperwork and talking to people from all over the country. It is a government-run spot, so things have a certain way of getting done. It isn't always the fastest process, but we get there. The building itself, Pragati Bhawan, is where all the planning happens behind the scenes. We have to manage the halls and make sure the trade fairs are set up correctly. It’s a lot of coordination. You’ll see us carrying clipboards and running between meetings. It’s not a glamorous job. There is a lot of dust when the construction for the stalls starts. We don’t use flashy language to describe what we do. We just manage the space and the events that happen here. It is an old institution and we are just the people keeping the wheels turning. If you come by for a fair, you might see us near the administration block trying to sort out a power issue or a gate pass. It’s just daily life here at the office.
