Down here at D-6 in West Patel Nagar, things are usually moving pretty fast. We’ve got the Hindustan Sanitaryware & Industries Ltd. name on the door, and that means we spend a lot of time looking at pipes, toilets, and all those bathroom fixtures. The shop isn't anything too special to look at, just a solid place where we get work done. Some days the dust from the road gets everywhere, and we’re constantly wiping down the display pieces. It’s just how it is in this part of New Delhi. We have a small team here. We know each other's coffee orders and who’s likely to be late when the metro is acting up. The stock comes in big trucks and we have to be quick to get it inside before it blocks the street. Customers come in with all sorts of questions about fittings and sizes. We do our best to find what they need in the back. Sometimes the inventory list doesn't match what’s on the shelf, which can be a headache, but we sort it out eventually. It's not a corporate office with glass walls; it’s more of a boots-on-the-ground kind of setup. We’ve been in West Patel Nagar long enough to know the neighbors. If the shutter is up, we are probably inside drinking chai or counting boxes. It's a living, and it keeps us on our toes every single day.
