Harsh Bag Industries

Being located at 6127/2 in Shanker Market means we are right in the middle of the Nabi Karim chaos. If you know Jhandewalan Road, you know how packed it gets with trucks and rickshaws every single morning. Harsh Bag Industries is just a small place where we put together various types of bags. There are sewing machines running almost all day, and the floor is usually covered with scraps of fabric and zippers. It’s a lot of manual work. We have a few guys who have been here for years, and they can stitch through heavy canvas like it’s nothing. The lighting isn't the best in the back of the shop, but we’ve got used to it. We don't spend money on fancy displays or anything like that. People just come in, look at the samples we have hanging on the hooks, and tell us what they need. Sometimes the tea man from down the street brings over a tray, and we take a break for ten minutes. It’s a dusty area, and the stairs up to the unit are narrow, so moving large rolls of material is always a bit of a struggle. We just focus on the stitching and making sure the handles are on straight. It’s just how things go here in Nabi Karim. We don’t have a big office or anything, just the workspace and a desk for the paperwork.
